The proposal includes: a Standard Highway Model designed for long stretches of roadway and speedy construction; and a Vernacular Model designed to mimic the architecture of Lazio's countryside. The ZE-way concept is based on the re-envisioning of the wind turbines as a super-structure elements that line the edges and suspend the road. The same super-structure will also suspend the solar roof and monorail. The ground bellow is freed for human and wildlife traffic. The Solar Roof System not only harvests solar energy, but its slopes collect rain water and it is an effective weather protection device; designed to create a safe and luxurious travel environment. In the future, when the maglev cars float over the road surface, the roof will control light for the growth of low laying crops like cabbage or wheat; enabling food production.
