High Performance Photovoltaic Sound Barriers are built with reinforced cement base on which are mounted steel profiles. High performance photovoltaic modules are installed on the profiles and acoustic panels are in the back side. The inclination of the barrier and other geometric characteristics can be chosen in function of the site of installation to optimize efficiency and maximize the acoustic rehabilitation. Distributed generation of electricity from renewable sources avoids transmission losses and emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. Standard components can be used and acoustic panels can be made with recycled material. High performance modules (heterojunction Si-m/Si-a) give high energy production (more than 1200 kWh/kWp/year*).
