solARTballoons
Each balloon is made of an organic resin membrane and lined with transparent organic solar cells. An interior balloon made of polyethylene houses the helium gas that keeps the structure afloat. LED lights are located in the balloon causing it to glow softly in the night, a constant reminder of the energy generated on site. Conductive and helium supply cables are located within the pole to ensure both the transmission of photovoltaic electrical energy to an inverter and the supply of helium. The purpose is to design a very provocative system that has a minimum impact for the habitats leaving space to the natural skyline created from the plantations. The proposal creatively incorporates exiting technologies, maximizing energy generation while minimizing the installation’s environmental footprint. Benefits translate into the capacity to create an interest in the travellers for the discovery of the territories and the acquisition of the local products.
