A new drivetrain system
Think of a bicycle: the drivetrain system is activated by Rome which transmits power through the chain - the infrastructural connections - to the cluster, role held by the vast conurbation of ‘City Campania’ embracing Caserta, Naples and Salerno: here the whole movement comes to a standstill due to the connections strangling. The concept is to wrap the existing infrastructures (A3 highway, metropolitan railway Formia-Salerno, SS 18, viaduct Gatto and harbour), spread out the coast, around a new intermodal link: a two ropes, four stations cableway moving 600 people/h. The approximate cost of the work goes around 50 million Euro to be covered partly by Community funds or transport companies involved, but mainly by private subjects - tour and mobility operators - through concession of management of the accommodation and commercial facilities inside the stations as well as the cableway’s rides.
