The project area is in a strategic position: between TEN-T Corridor1, Berlin to Palermo, and Corridor8, Bari to Varna. Transversal connections are currently inadequate; an existing project by Italian Railway Network, providing to double the existing line to a new High Capacity line and to build up a new Exchange Place nearby Grottaminarda(AV). Finished work will allow to save travelling time about 50 minutes. The new railway connection will promote the linking up among the main industrial hubs of Southern Italy. The new infrastructure through the new freight railway, provides the chances for the development of a linear system to generate energy; farms, food industries and adjacent built-up areas will reborn as INPUT of the system through their own organic waste.The OUTPUT of the system will be energy, issued from the transformation process of the waste into biogas, that will be redistributed to the Input subjects, creating a Waste-Energy-Product-Waste cycle.
